Randal Ford: Riding the Commercial Photography Roller Coaster

Spend a no-holds-barred session with award-winning commercial and editorial photographer Randal Ford. Randal will be discussing everything from the genesis of his photographic career to the roller coaster ride of being a busy working photographer. 

 He will discuss imagery throughout his portfolio; honest, humorous, and insightful tales on certain assignments, clients, and subjects. Randal will also take the audience through a few technically challenging images from start to finish, discussing various aspects of pre-production, production, and post production.

From a business and marketing perspective, Randal will also provide advice for young emerging photographers.  How to break into the business, what it takes to succeed, how to stand out in a sea of competition, and how to stay relevant in an ever-changing marketplace.

We'll wrap it all with a great Q&A session.

Austin-based photographer Randal Ford has an eye for capturing the extraordinary moment.  Randal pursues the sublime in the ordinary, glorifying moments that are at once every-day and once-in-a-lifetime using sensibilities that combines classical ideas and values with a modern aesthetic.  This ethos has carried him from his early work as staff shooter at Texas A&M’s Battalion, to the covers of Texas Monthly and Time Magazine, and ultimately the coffee tables of America with his work on The Amazing Faith of Texas book.  Ford’s advertising clients include some of the most prestigious advertising firms from coast to coast.  His work has been highlighted in Communication Arts, Rangefinder Magazine, Popular Photography and a host of other industry publications.  He currently lives in Austin with his wife, Lauren and 2 kids, Layla and Ellis.
